Asiedu Nketiah acquires Masters degree to boost running mate bid

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah’s new degree from the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College may be taking him a step closer to being John Mahama’s running mate, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has joked.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah graduated with Msc in Defence and International Politics on Friday and political rivalries were set aside as Dr. Bawumia congratulated his political opponent during the graduation ceremony.

“I am told he did not come here for physical muscles but he came here to beef up the intellectual capacity of the NDC and enhance his case for being selected as the running mate.”

“More seriously, I really want to congratulate my friend Johnson Asiedu Nketia. He has shown that it can never be too late to acquire knowledge and I think he has done well,” the Vice President added.

Dr Bawumia’s comments set the auditorium of Hamidu Hall of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College with laughter and cheers from the audience.

He also commended the graduands, some of whom were from 13 sister African countries for bonding very well during the course and charged them to use their links and networks to improve the sovereignty and integrity of their respective countries.

In all, 67 officers, comprising middle class and senior-level military officers and civilians received MSc in Defence and International Politics.

Forty of the graduands were from the Ghana Armed Forces and 27 were allied students from sister African countries and other security services, industry and Civil Service.

Major Isaac Boako of the Ghana Armed Forces was adjudged the Overall Best Graduating Student.
