Amalitech, a global Information Technology (IT) company, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Takoradi Technical University (TTU) to train students in the IT and digital space.
With the signing of the MoU, Amalitech would set up its very first training centre in Ghana at the TTU campus to provide first class IT and digital training for about 300 students.
Upon completion of the training, the students would be hired by the company to provide IT solutions to companies both local and abroad.
The company will also equip the training centre with modern technology and develop an efficient and reliable recruitment channel for IT professionals.
Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Amalitech, Martin Hecker, was delighted in the collaboration between the company and TTU.
He said several opportunities exist in the IT and Digital industry and the students should take advantage of them.
“We believe that Amalitech’s collaboration with TTU will help create jobs and serve companies in Europe. This is because in Europe we have a lot of need for digital service but we don’t have enough young people who can do it,” he indicated.
“Here in Ghana, you have a growing population of very young intelligent and smart people who can basically help provide these jobs,” he added
According to him, the customers in Europe were looking for what he called ‘larger and more complex projects,’ and it required additional skills in software architecture to go into that area.
TTU Vice-Chancellor Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun was optimistic the collaboration with Amalitech would enhance the competencies of students.
“I believe that as a technical university we need to collaborate with industry so that academia-industry relationship would be strengthened,” he said.
