Kotoko coach, CK Akonnor
Coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has expressed concern about the violence which broke out prior to their match against Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park on Sunday, April 28.
The match ended 0-0 but before then violence broke out leading to the head injury to a Kotoko official identified as Dr Amo Sarpong.
Commenting about the incidence in a post match interview, coach Akonnor said football, like any sports discipline, was meant to forge unity among sports fans , hence the need to avoid such violence in future.
‘’ Football is meant to forge unity and bring people together. That is why the incident which occurred before our match against Chelsea should not be repeated in future ” , he noted
He said he was, however, happy that the two teams eventually honoured the match which ended goalless.
Complaining about the field, he said it was not the best , a situation which affected their style of play
” We played well and I was happy about the manner we played, especially considering the nature of the field. It was difficult because it was not too good and made playing difficult” he lamented
