Need to push Creative Arts: Bandex urges musicians to join politics

Even as some musicians see politics as a threat to their brands in Ghana, the First Vice Chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), Ahmed Banda Bandex, also known as Bandex, has asked industry players to join politics.

According to him, politicians will only know the plight of musicians if they engage with practitioners within their circles.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s weekend entertainment show, Tête-à-Tête with host Prince Tsegah, Bandex explained that politicians will develop the interest for the Creative Arts Ministry when a bond is developed.

“We need politicians who have interest in the Creative Arts Ministry like Dr Kwame Nkrumah. If we don’t familiarize ourselves with the politicians, it will take long for that to happen.

“People don’t push our agenda. I think some of us should be involved in politics. Politicians should know the importance of musicians. We should have entertainment players in the political spheres to push our agenda,” Bandex said.
