President Akufo-Addo shook the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency with his presence at the last rally before tomorrow’s by-election.

Lifting
the hand of Lydia Seyram Alhassan in the air, the President urged voters in the
constituency to vote for her as an honour to her late husband to continue his good
works.

Speaking
during the rally at Bawalashie, a segment of the constituency adjoining East
Legon, he described the candidate as a woman of substance who hails from
diverse ethnic groups.

The party
faithful expressed admiration for the President when he arrived at the venue.

President Akufo-Addo told Ghanaians that his achievements, since assuming the leadership of the country, are real and not lies as his opponents are claiming.

He said
his opponents described him as a liar when he was campaigning before the last
elections.

He said
he has always put everything in the hands of God, hence his ‘The battle is the
Lord’s’ mantra.

President
Akufo-Addo, who said the battle is still the Lord’s, recalled his promise to
deal with the restiveness in Dagbon when he wins power which was doubted by
some people.

“Now that
I have been able to restore peace in this part of the country, my opponents are
unhappy with the turn of events.”

He said
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has compiled the achievements into a
document which are verifiable, saying “it is not a lie.”

He
expressed gratitude to his compatriots for the support they have offered him
over the past two years, adding that this gesture has been a source of
encouragement to him.

“The
economy has moved away from the mess in which it was when I took over the
throttles of power.”

The
next two years, he said, would be represented by marked improvements.

He also
asked Ghanaians to join hands in moving the country forward.

The
Vice President, on his part, told the gathering that the President Akufo-Addo
has a zero tolerance for incompetence, adding that in 2016 Ghanaians replaced a
visionless government with a visionary one.

Some leading
NPP personalities, who are also government appointees, took turns to campaign
for votes, as the clock ticks towards the by-election.

They
all asked members of the constituency to lend their support to the NPP
candidate Lydia Alhasaan, who in spite of her mourning mood, has been active on
the campaign trail since she emerged victorious in the primary.

When the
NPP General Secretary John Boadu mounted the rostrum, he expressed gratitude to
the selfless work they have put in so far.

Tomorrow’s
election, he said, is not an NPP Congress but an election within the
constituency for voters.

The NPP candidate canvassed for votes in various languages at the event.
