Revere actor, Adjetey Anang known by many as Pusher has hinted that, series hasn’t been given the mileage it deserves.

To him, the initial enthusiasm that came with making series in Ghana has been quenched based on certain factors.

Speaking to www.flexgh.com, the actor outlined that, series started with so much promise based on professionals who made up a greater percentage of cast and crew with technical artistic but, he can’t say same for the current industry in the series sector.

“Series has not been given the mileage it deserves. It started with so much promise and if you remember, the ultimate paradise days, it really did start with a lot of promise because you had professionals who made up a greater percentage of cast and crews with technical artistic. We had a lot of challenges when we started but looking at these current days, it still hasn’t been the same. It is difficult to have brands coming on board to support or sponsor as compared to before. This is based on the fact that, we are not able to push our performance to a height where brands will be proud to be attached to. This makes it a bit difficult for corporate bodies to come on board. It is not easy for people to come on board to want to sponsor as before. Take a look at what Shirley Frimpong Manso and her crew with ‘Adams Apple and Shampaign’ I mean these are quality productions but yet, funding becomes a problem and sometimes hinders you to achieve such productions. Sometimes, the quality of work that is done can also bring in the buyers. But you can hand-pick those ones of that standard,” he explained.

When asked about the possibilities of having our A-list musicians in our series just as the Nigerians, to push the industry, he had this to say.

“I don’t know how Nigeria remunerates their musicians to partake in their series. But Ghana has seen the likes of Becca and even Shatta Wale in some of our series. Mostly, when these musicians come on board, they don’t charge professional fees but just to support the industry. However, getting them to come on board is another difficult thing. This is because; they are guys who travel a lot for performances. Shooting series is a big deal and quite expensive and time bound than a full feature movie, If you don’t get an artiste who was featured in the previous editions, you might have to redirect the whole process again making it a tough thing to do.” he further stated.

Most actors and actresses are reluctant to go into series because it locks you down for several months or even years. It becomes more of a burden especially when you don’t earn much from it,” he concluded.
