Managing Director of Zoomlion Ghana Mrs. Florence Larbi handing over the car keys to the Accra Mayor
Zoomlion Ghana Limited on Wednesday officially handed over 10 pickup vehicles, 20 motorcycles, and other waste management logistics at the tune of GHC1.5 million to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).
The move is to ensure the effective collection of waste in various parts of the city. It is also a gesture that Zoomlion believed will help in the realization of President Akufo-Addo’s vision to make Accra the cleanest city in Africa.
According to the Managing Director of Zoomlion Ghana, Mrs. Florence Larbi, the organisation has strategized to support the president’s agenda by providing new sewage systems, compost plants, and other innovations.
She said Hon Mohamed Nii Sowah’s performance so far as the Accra Mayor is encouraging, hence the need to support him with the needed assistance to succeed.
“Looking at the interventions undertaken by the AMA, it is imperative to support institutions considering the fact that the Mayor of Accra, Hon Mohamed Nii Adjei Sowah has done an impressive work since taking the mantle as Mayor of the capital city.’’ She established.
According to the mayor, the pick-up vehicles and motorcycles will help them enforce bye-laws for checking littering and also to collect heaps of refuse across the capital.
He said the motorcycle especially will be used to trace the owners of rubbish dumped on the streets.
He, therefore, used the opportunity to call on traders and all citizens to partake in the cleaning exercise as part of commemorations for the 6th March Independence Day celebrations.
