On Friday 23, Ghanaians responded to the shock sentence of the National Coordinator of the Ghana Youth Employment and Entreprenuership Agency (GYEEDA), Abuga Pele and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Goodwill International Group Philip Assibit.
The two were given the sentence after being guilty of several types of charges as well as purposely duping the state of sums of money.
Meanwhile, the managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jnr has expressed his sympathy after Abuga Pele was sentenced to 6 years and Mr Assibit was sentenced 12 years.
He said while speaking on Joy FM, “I have been to jail before; I feel for them…going for jail even for a day is no joke…even though if we were able to retrieve the money, I would have been more comfortable with that”.
The GYEEDA scandal popped up under the Mahama Administration when various group of companies were contracted to render services to the countr.
The government after discovering the irregularities under GYEEDA conducted an investigation into its activities and subsequently terminated the contracts with the various companies.
