Kumasi Asante Kotoko have confirmed the sacking of head coach Steve Polack with immediate effect following their disappointing exit from the CAF Confederation Cup.

Kotoko in a brief statement signed by the Director for Communications of the club, Obed Acheampong, wished Polack well in his future endeavours.

The statement said: “The management of Asante Kotoko S.C has relieved Coach Steve Polack as Head Coach of the club effective immediately.

“We wish him well in his future endeavour and we assure our teaming fans of our continuous dedication to ensuring the club consolidate gains while charting new fruitful courses”.

Kotoko were booted out of the competition after losing 7-6 on penalties to Congolese side CARA on Wednesday in Brazzaville.

CARA, beat Kotoko 1-0 to finish the regulation time on a 1-1 aggregate.

The Porcupine Warriors had beaten CARA 1-0 in the first leg courtesy striker Yakubu Mohammed’s penalty.

Fabin next Kotoko coach?

Meanwhile, former national U-17 coach Samuel Paa Kwesi Fabin is being heavily linked with replacing Polack at Kotoko.

According to reports, Fabin met with the club’s hierarchy on Friday morning to finalise the deal and is expected to be confirmed as coach of the side before Monday.

Fabin led the Black Starlets to win Bronze at the 2017 Africa Youth Championship in Fabin before guiding them to a quarter-final place finish at the FIFA World Cup in India.
