President Akufo-Addo has started holding talks with the President of Togo and leaders of the main opposition parties over the ongoing political crisis in that country.

The Ghanaian leader is scheduled to meet Civil Society Groups and political actors alike who are calling for Presidential term limits in neighbouring Togo.

Togo in recent times has witnessed a series of protests by opposition parties who have called for the resignation of President Faure Gnassingbe.

Mr. Akufo-Addo moments before entering into a closed door meeting with the parties involved in the deadlock, expressed optimism about his intervention in the dialogue.

“I have come here with no solution, prescription or magic wand to impose or prescribe any solution for the resolution of the crisis that has plagued your country in this last months. My task is a simple one; to help assist in the dialogue between the various political actors of this country, so that the peace, stability, the consolidation of democracy and the Rule of law which is the demand of the Togolese people and the demands of the African People today are realized here in Togo.

Meanwhile reports say, the opposition political parties are demanding the release of all political prisoners as a condition for the engagement.
