Ghana Drunkards Association has paid a glowing tribute to dancehall artiste, Ebony Reigns for championing their cause.

President of the group, Moses Drybone said the songs of the musician born Priscilla Opoku Kwarteng resonated with their vision to promote responsible drinking.

The sudden demise of Ebony, he noted is a big blow to them because “it will limit the number of bottles we take a day”.

To show their last respect, Moses Drybone said they would be present in their number at her funeral on February 17, 2018 to “drink to glorify Ebony”.

Meanwhile, contrary to assertions that Ebony Reigns was a bad influence and a burden to the society due to her risqué on-stage acts and suggestive performances, Communications Minister, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has eulogized the late dancehall artiste for using her talent “to the glory of her maker”.

Speaking at an event to commemorate one week of Ebony’s passing, the legislator applauded the late musician for putting her talent into judicious use.

“She was blessed with talent and she used it to the glory of her maker,” said the minister.

“We have lost a treasure. We have lost a beautiful talented human being. We have lost somebody who wasn’t afraid to express her individuality and didn’t care about what anybody said or thought about her. We can all learn something from the short life that she lived here.”

Ebony, 21, died February 8 along with two others in an accident while returning from Sunyani where she had visited her mother.

Franky Kuri, a close pal of Ebony and a dancer, and soldier L/C Francis Atsu Vondee, were the other two victims when the Jeep car they travelled in collided head-on with a VIP bus.

The driver of the Jeep however survived but is still on hospital admission.

Ebony’s death led to a huge outpouring of grief and sympathies from music lovers, fans, colleagues, friends and politicians in Ghana.

On Sunday, February 18, 2018, thousands thronged St. Martin De Porres School, Dansoman to join her family observe one week of her passing.

The family has announced that she will be buried on March 17, 2018. Venue for her funeral is however yet to be communicated.
