Celebrated dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale has invoked God’s wrath against all the people who heavily criticised her late colleague, Ebony Reigns when she was alive.

“God if you are here and you are watching the enemies, I want you to strike them,” an emotional “Kakai” hitmaker said at the one-week celebration of Ebony’s passing at Dansoman in Accra.

He did not spare media practitioners in his emotionally packed tribute at the event held at St Martin de Porres School on Sunday. He accused them of blatantly discrediting the female dancehall artiste on their platforms.

“Someone’s daughter, when she dresses, you claim she is naked…when will you support your musicians?” Shatta Wale fumed.

The late artiste had been sharply criticised for her style of dressing, which her critics described as indecent and undesired.

But she redefined her brand when she released “Maame Hwe”, a song that has become a national anthem in many homes in Ghana.

The song released on December 12, 2017, has been viewed by over 3.3million viewers but she lost her life in a car crash just when her meteoric rise became ever clear.

She died on the Kumasi-Sunyani highway while returning to Accra after visiting her mother who had visited from the UK.

There has been an outpouring of sympathy from fans, friends, celebrities, media personnel, politicians and industry players following her sad passing.

But Shatta Wale wants the hypocrites among the many sympathisers to be punished by God for “what they did” against the female dancehall artiste.

“When Ebony was alive, the media here, insulted her,” he said.

He wondered when Ghanaians will rise to the defence of local musicians who are marketing the country’s culture internationally.
