Kofi Adams, National Organiser of the NDC
The National Organiser of the NDC Kofi Adams has asked members of the party aiming at vying for the position of flagbearership to stop being petty.
According to him, allegations by some of them that he is organizing the unity walk to campaign for former President John Mahama is not true.
In a TV interview, Kofi Adams said after the Kwesi Botchway committee recommended for a unity walk to unite the grassroots of the party, he sees it as a thing that will help their initial idea of reorganizing the party.
He added that allegation by MP for Nadowli West, Alban Bagbin that the former President is paying for the various unity walks been organized by the party is not true.
Kofi Adams called on all who wants to lead the party in the 2020 general elections to rather stop being petty and contribute to building a formidable front to win the general elections.
The National organizer said unless nominations are open for party members to pick and vie for the position of flagbearership, all hopefuls cannot be treated the same because President Mahama who has not declared whether or not he will run for the flagbearership position is a former head of state and will on any day not be treated like the rest.
According to him, same will be done for Alban Bagbin if John Mahama is not in the scene because Mr Bagbin has been the long-serving MP in the party.
NDC NEC petitioned to suspend Kofi Adams
Some members of the NDC, have petitioned the party’s National Executive Council, NEC to suspend the National Organiser, Kofi Adams, for openly supporting former President Mahama.
According to the petitioners, aside Kofi Adams openly supporting former President Mahama he has also divulge confidential information of the party to the media.
“One such act is the divulgence of confidential information to the media. On 23 January 2018, he disclosed to the general public via radio and Ghanaweb, information of a meeting by NEC and the Council of Elders with potential presidential aspirants.
The petitioners Chief Akwetiu Bayaga of the Akuafo Hall branch of the Ayawaso Wuogon Constituency and Nii Nortey Nortey of Korletey-Korle, PWD, said: “Article 40(8d) states that no official should disclose confidential information without permission.”
