Mahama wasn’t late at 31st Dec. event – LOC

The Local Organizing Committee of the 36th commemoration of the 31st December Revolution has clarified that former President John Mahama did not arrive late to the event which was held at the Volta Regional capital, Ho, on Sunday.

Former President Jerry John Rawlings at the event criticized ex President Mahama for keeping him waiting at functions, adding that official programmes are delayed in wait for Mr Mahama arrival before commencement.

“He has not learnt the lesson of how not to be late for functions. Each time they keep me waiting just because of him. Ladies and gentlemen, don’t worry he will learn it,” he said.

But the committee has explained that what transpired leading to the remarks of the Founder of the NDC and former President, Jerry John Rawlings was an apparent communication lapse.

“Former President Mahama’s Office was informed to arrive at 10am. It should be noted that Former President Mahama duly complied and in fact arrived earlier at 9:50am.

It must be well acknowledged that Former President Rawlings after having been informed of these facts, in a statesmanly manner, publicly corrected the impression he had created earlier and apologised to President Mahama.

It is the considered view of the LOC that an otherwise successful and well patronized Revolution Day event should not be marred by this blip,” a statement signed by Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah (MP) Chairman, Local Organising Committee, said.

The committee noted that the just marked 36th Revolution Day contrary to claims by the NDC’s opponents of an imploding party, has clearly showcased to the nation that the entire rank and file of the NDC is united under the umbrella and deeply committed to the principles of Probity, Accountability and Social Justice.
