Former Education PS Karega Mutahi has dismissed as inaccurate an audit report by Treasury showing that 4.2 billion shillings was lost at the education ministry.
Mutahi says some of the money went into helping children and schools affected by the post election violence.
The PS now working at the Local government ministry, says over 1.9 billion shillings was disbursed directly to schools.
He says the other 2.3 billion that is un-reconciled was most likely a wrongly generated figure by the Kenya education sector support programme secretariat.
