The newly constituted Sports Tribunal will begin its first sitting tomorrow at the Independence Stadium Friendship Hotel, a release from the seven-member panel reveals.

The seven-member committee was set up on the 10th March 2011 under the chairmanship of Justice Lamin Jobarteh in the wake of a heated controversy surrounding the GNOC presidential election.

Following this controversy, it could be recalled that the Minister of Youth and Sports acting on powers conferred on him by the Sports Council Act 2000, section 24 (2) appointed a seven member tribunal.

The first sitting of this tribunal will be on Tuesday 21st June, 2011 and on Wednesday June 22nd at 4.00pm and is ‘open to members of the public’ adds the release.

Other members of the tribunal are: Mr Ebrima Sanneh, legal practitioner, Mr Mustapha Carayol, Chairman IEC, Mr Charles Thomas, former Executive Secretary NSC, Mr Cherno B. Touray, former Director of Youth and Sports, and Ms. Sainabou Kujabi-Njie, President Sports Journalists Association.
