Mbanza Kongo — Six citizens accused of cannabis trafficking and illegal possession of firearms were sentenced to six to two years in jail in northern Zaire province on Monday, Angop learnt.

The mentioned citizens were detained in December last year at Luvo border station, by the police, when trying to smuggle into the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), 67 kilograms of cannabis.

“Border guard officers in northern Zaire province patrolling the Angolan territory, in an area called Lungezi took by surprise Kanalukidi Bengui, Sivi Zola, Makuila Deni and Mpaka Eduardo, in possession of cannabis”, said the judge during the court session.
