Luanda — The charity campaign dubbed “Hands of Solidarity”, promoted by the state-owned National Radio of Angola (RNA), which closed Monday, has enabled the collection of over 2000 tonnes of diverse goods for the victims of the floods in the country.
Speaking to the press, the CEO of RNA, Pedro Cabral, stressed that the donation aims to support the victims of the floods in various parts of the country.
“We’ve made a positive balance. Society answered the call with open heart, showing great solidarity. We’d like to thank everyone who participated in this action” he emphasised.
Besides individual persons, donations were made on Monday a parliamentary delegation, consisting of mattresses, zinc sheets, used clothes, cassava flour, maze flour, rice, salt and kitchen utensils.
The company that produces the Cristalina water brand handed over 18 metal containers of water, one for each province, which makes up about 19 million bottles.
The Riot Police unit also donated four tonnes of used clothes and shoes.
The whole donation is being handed over, by stages, to the National Civil Protection Commission that is distributing the products to beneficiaries in the different regions of the country.
