The Glazer family have insisted they have no intention of selling Manchester United, despite continued speculation that the Qatar Royal Family are preparing a bid for the club.

In a statement released alongside the club’s second quarter financial results, the Glazers refuted claims they were looking to sell and reaffirmed their long term commitment to United.

“The board notes recent press speculation regarding a possible bid for Manchester United,” said the statement.

“The owners remain fully committed to their long-term ownership of the club.

“No discussions have taken place, Manchester United is not for sale and the owners will not entertain any offers.”

Despite a similar statement from the Qatar Holdings investment arm last week, speculation remains rife that a £1.8 billion bid is being prepared, a deal which would see the Glazers receive double the money they bought the club for in 2005.

Whilst United continue to seek stability at board level, financially it has been another successful year for the club, with their debt shrinking to £489.4 million from the end of 2010, down from £512.5m 12 months before that.

The Premier League leaders also look set to become the first club to break the £100m barrier for commercial revenue alone, with the first six months of the year having generated £50.4m, a 30.2 per cent rise in commercial revenues.
