Brazilian striker Ronaldo announced his retirement from professional football only two weeks ago, but Russian side Terek Grozny are already trying to lure the legendary striker back into the game, according to a report in Tvoi Den.

The report claims that Terek Grozny are ready to offer the 34-year-old Ronaldo an 18-month deal worth close to €6 million. If the deal goes through, Ronaldo will be the highest paid player in the history of Russian football.

Stars such as Kaka, Ronaldo and Ronaldinho from Brazil’s 2002 World Cup winners were recently invited to play an exhibition match against ‘Team Kadyrov’ and Terek reportedly want to use the occasion to try to talk Ronaldo out of his retirement.

“Ronaldo has recently announced the end of his football career, and this is what Terek management’s is using. Ronaldo has already been invited to come to Chechnya, but there has been no response from the Brazilian,” a Russian agent was quoted as saying.

Terek Grozny are looking to raise their profile and recently managed to capture Ruud Gullit as the club’s new manager.
