Luanda — The Angolan Foreign minister, Georges Chicoty, said Wednesday in Luanda, that the country’s external policy will maintain its current guidelines in 2012.
The minister who was addressing the end-of-year compliments ceremony, said the Angolan external policy focuses on values contained in the African Union and United Nations charters.
According to him, the country will keep its stand regarding the neighbouring countries, that is of good neighbourhood and will continue setting up diplomatic relations with as many countries as possible.
Georges Chicoty said as well that a diplomatic coverage programme will be designed for all geopolitical regions and assistance to Angolan communities abroad.
He said a special attention will be paid to the promotion of economic, cultural and scientific relations, to the promotion of exchange of information and delegations at various levels, boosting or institutionalisation of existing bilateral cooperation commissions.
The minister also mentioned the priority that will be given to the celebration and implementation of accords of political, diplomatic, economic, techno-scientific and entrepreneurial cooperation wherever necessary, including the raising of investment and credit facilities.
According to the minister, the country will continue carrying out actions that lead to a rising action of Angola in the international organisations like the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), Gulf of Guinea Commission, African Union and the various systems of the United Nations.
On the other hand, minister Georges Chicoty considered positive the work done by his department in 20122, saying it has accomplished more than 90 percent of the programme.
The minister mentioned the programme of administrative reorganisation of the Ministry, adding the country was firm, active, pragmatic and flexible when necessary, in conducting its external policy, both in the bilateral and multilateral spheres.
He stated the Angolan diplomacy focused on the defence of the national objectives and interests, particularly peacekeeping, security and stability of the world stability, preservation, management and resolution of conflicts through dialogue, defence and promotion of international cooperation and regional integration
