Luanda — The priest of Nossa Senhora da Assunção Parish in Sambizanga, in Luanda, Cândido Icelengue, urged Wednesday the society, especially the youth, to avoid excessive consumption of alcohol during the transition to the new year.
In an interview to ANGOP, as part of the New Year preparations, the religious leader considered being necessary to consume alcohol moderately, in order to avoid situations that damage the health.
The prelate said it has been visible in recent years changes in behaviour of the majority of citizens who believe that the New Year is celebrated mainly with the consumption of alcoholic beverages and unnecessary expenses for the purchase of goods, forgetting that it is also a religious and holy festival.
Preacher Cândido Icelengue added “we should celebrate the New Year with joy and thank the creator for having given us another year of life.”
