Johannesburg – Motorists in Soweto should avoid Khumalo Street along Klip Valley Drive in Orlando West, due to excessive rain water, Johannesburg metro police said on Wednesday.
Motorists were advised to get past the water either by using Chris Hani Drive or by turning off Khumalo Street into Mthipa Street and then Mncube Drive before returning to Klip Valley Drive via Moroka Nancefield Road, said Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar.
Barricades were expected to go up at the intersection of Klip Valley Drive and Khumalo Streets.
“The water started to rise last night but it seems to now be getting worse,” Minnaar said late on Wednesday afternoon. – Sapa
