Valencia defender Adil Rami has distanced himself from reports linking him with a move to Manchester United after pledging his future to the club.

Recent speculation has seen the English champions allegedly pinpoint the 26-year-old as the ideal replacement for injured duo Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, but speaking to Superdeporte on Wednesday, he spoke of his passion to build a legacy in the Primera Division.

“Currently, I am only thinking about Valencia and fighting for a major trophy like the Copa del Rey,” said Rami.

“Here I feel well and my desire is to become an important player of this historic team. Of course the interest of a team like United is nice, but it is not my goal.”

Rami joined Valencia during the summer following a successful four-year spell with Lille, where he earned international recognition with France.
