Zambia stars
Zambia youth international strikers Evans Kangwa and Reynold Kampamba have made the 20-man team for Sunday’s friendly away in Angola in Dundo.
The duo is part of four Young Chipolopolo players from the victorious COSAFA Youth Championship team in the travelling party to Dundo that left on Saturday morning after coach Herve Renard dropped six players from the trip.
Orlando Pirates target Kangwa and Kampamba, who Mamelodi Sundowns are tracking, scored seven and four goals respectively at the COSAFA tournament to help Zambia retain the title for a third successive time.
The other two U20 players in the travelling party are Konkola Blades defender Amos Simwanza and Red Arrows midfielder Bruce Musakanya.
“We are taking this match seriously so that we see how the players are responding,” Renard said at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka on Saturday morning before departing with the team for Angola on a chartered flight.
The team will be captained by Christopher Katongo who is one of seven regular Zambia players in the team including midfielder Rainford Kalaba.
Zambia are due to fly back to Lusaka on Monday.
Both teams are using the match as part of their 2012 Africa Cup tournament preparations.
Zambia is in Group A with Libya, Senegal and hosts Equatorial Guinea, while Angola are in Group B comprising of Cote d’Ivoire, Sudan and Burkina Faso.
