Maputo — Mozambican and Portuguese institutions have created a fund of 94 million euros (about 125 million US dollars) to support investments promoted by Portuguese companies and their partners in Mozambique.

“InvestMoz”, is a pioneering investment fund recently created by the Confederation of Business Associations of Mozambique (CTA), the Portugal-Mozambique Chamber of Commerce (CCPM), the publicly owned business agency AICEP Portugal Global and the Portuguese finance institution SOFID with the support of the governments of both countries.

According to a CTA press release received by AIM, it is expected that InvestMoz will serve to finance public or private investment projects promoted by Portuguese companies or by Luso-Mozambican partnerships.

The eligibility criteria and other essential questions about InvestMoz will be announced at a conference on Friday in Maputo, with the participation of business people from many areas including renewable energy, infrastructures, agriculture, tourism, transport and manufacturing.

The press release states “It is hoped that this will be an opportunity for Mozambican and Portuguese entrepreneurs to get to know each other and to consolidate investment potential.

They will be able to benefit from InvestMoz which can offer preferential access to Luso-Mozambican partnerships”.
