Thembinkosi Fanteni of Ajax Cape Town
Ajax Cape Town’s star forward Terror Fanteni wants the club to sign a new striker in the January transfer window because injuries and suspensions have often left Ajax short.
Fanteni missed Ajax’s 2-0 win over Bloemfontein Celtic due to suspension and says he is not happy with the amount of goals to his name, but is happy with his level of performance thus far.
“If you look at how Ajax have been playing, then I’m happy with how the team is playing. Although I cannot be happy with the number of goals I’ve scored as a striker. I’m also happy that besides scoring, I’ve been creating a number of scoring opportunities for my teammates,” Fanteni tells MTNFootball.com.
The man from Mbekweni in Paarl currently sits on three goals in the Absa Premiership’s top goal scorer chart.
“We have three strikers. Alcardo (Van Graan) is inexperienced, but aside from that, he is a great striker. But he is injured. Antonio (Correia) is experienced but troubled by injuries, and the reality is that the season is long and injuries and suspensions are part of the game.”
When asked what he thinks should be done during the January transfer window, Fanteni said: “Although it is only my thought, it will be great if we signed another striker just to add depth to the squad.”
As it stands Fanteni’s wish may be fulfilled as Niger international striker Idrissa Seidou is currently on trial with the Cape Town side.
