Champion club Accra Hearts of Oak have set high targets in this year’s Glo Premiership after beating Berekum Arsenals in the first match of the season.
The Phobians opened their account with a 1-0 win over Arsenals courtesy Mahatma Otoo.
Assistant coach of the team Tanko Mohammed said the win puts the team on a good pedestal while putting smiles on the faces of fans.
The technical team of Hearts was at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday to witness the Mighty Jets/Chelsea game to strategize as the Phobians would come face to face with the two teams in their next matches.
Speaking on Citi Sports, Tanko Mohammed noted that their presence at the Stadium will help the technical team to plan tactically before encountering these tough challengers.
Asked whether Hearts will make an impact in this season’s league, he reacted in the affirmative saying, “Definitely yes, Hearts will make an impact. We have spoken with the team and they have indicated their readiness to battle for the championship.”
Hearts fielded experienced players against Arsenals and this paid off, enabling them to ran away victorious.
Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko’s coach Maxwell Konadu has predicted a good performance from his team in this season’s league despite a one-all drawn game with Tema Youth at the Tema Park on Sunday.
Though he could not predict that the team will win the league this season, he was confident that the Porcupine Warriors will deliver.
“The team will do well in the league this season. I have no doubt that the team will do well.”
Kotoko will next host Ashgold at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.
