The District Chief Executive for AAK, Mr William Atta Mends, said he may be compelled to send the revenue collectors to farms considering the meagre revenue they collect.
At a meeting with the Abura Traditional Council at Abakrampa Friday, Mr Atta Mends said the 21 revenue collectors in the district collected GHc 2,100 a month.
The amount, he explained, was even less than the salaries of the revenue collectors for one month.
He said working on state farms may bring more revenue to the assembly than collecting revenue.
He said the assembly was working to find new sources of revenue for the assembly to accelerate development projects in the district.
He said roads in the area were being improved to ensure easy access to the communities and to reduce the post harvest losses, especially of oranges in the area.
Mr Atta Mends also complained about truancy in the district.
He indicated that the situation had led to the deterioration in the quality of education in the area.
The Guantahen of the Abura State, Nana Fuah IX, expressed concern about the post harvest losses in the area and called on the district assembly to work to build a processing plant in the area.
He also expressed concern about the Agriculture Station at Asuansi which was in a state of deterioration.
They pledged to work with the assembly to enable it to achieve its goals.
