The Member of Parliament (MP) for New Juaben South Constituency in the Eastern Region, Beatrice Bernice Boateng, affectionately called ‘Iron Lady’ by her constituents, has rented, furnished, and opened an MP’s office to cater for all members of the constituency, regardless of political affiliation, as well as set up a development agenda.
The agenda includes education for the youth, with special reference to the girl-child, youth employment, micro-finance and support for women, health, and sanitation among others.
She has still managed to appropriately handle some of the needs of the people successfully, with funding from the Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) fund, Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETfund), MP’s Common Fund, self mobilized funding, and donations from individuals among others.
On education, the New Juaben South MP has given educational support to 28 to brilliant but needy students to continue their education at the sum of GH ¢16,500, and distributed educational materials.
Health and women empowerment were not left out, as she has organised several medical screening and clean-up exercises, and the construction of fence walls around some health facilities within the constituency.
Last Thursday she also donated several items to three institutions within her area.
The items, which include paint, hospital beds, bed sheets, text books, street lights, computers and accessories among others, were given to some clinics, schools and government institutions.
