Two suspected robbers were over the weekend lynched by a mob at a village in Laikipia Central. The suspects are said to have been part of a four-man gang that had broken into several shops at Thome and Wanaruona shopping centres. They stole money, agro-chemicals and two bicycles. As they escaped at about 6am on Saturday, they were spotted by a villager who raised an alarm. Two of the suspects were cornered at Mwiyogo where they were stoned to death and their bodies set on fire. The other two managed to escape.

The two bicycles and some money was recovered. Laikipia East police boss Joshua Lutukai said the suspects could not be identified since no identification documents were found. “They were burnt beyond recognition and the villagers declined to give any information regarding the suspects,” said Lutukai. The bodies were taken to Nanyuki District Hospital.
