Windhoek — It’s that time of the year again with several footballers developing itchy feet in search of greener pastures and regular game time ahead of the start of the 2011/2012 campaign.
Civics’ long-serving defender Franklin April is rumoured to be on his way out of the Civilians’ nest heading towards Diaz House to join Katutura glamour football club African Stars.
Black Africa’s much decorated pocket sized midfielder Rudi Louw is apparently also considering a return to Stars where he enjoyed unsurpassed success, winning back-to- back to league titles with the Katutura giants before he jumped ship to join his boyhood team, Black Africa, last term.
New Era Sports has it on good authority that the boy with the Midas touch was not entirely impressed with the winning bonus he received after he steered the Gemengde based outfit to league glory in only his first season.
An exodus of playing personnel is looming at troubled coastal side Eleven Arrows following the shock departure of its flamboyant financial backer Johnny “JJD” Doeseb.
The latter was instrumental in luring the bulk of players to the gold and maroon outfit through his deep pockets and early indications are that many of his recruits feel financially insecure in the absence of Doeseb.
Arrows’ Brave Warriors defender Chris Katjiukua and striker Veno Namholo are retreating to Otjiwarongo where the pair is reported to have signed with Mighty Gunners after the men in uniform dangled a juicy carrot in front of their noses.
The players have been apparently offered permanent employment in the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) in return for their services in the black and gold colours of the law enforcers.
Acrobatic goalkeeper Virgil Vries is on the verge of signing a lucrative professional contract with Doc Hardley’s former club Lamontville Golden Arrows in the South African Premier League.
Sports Klub Windhoek (SKW) and Young Warriors fast as lightning winger Larry Horaeb, is a prime target of Wesbank Tigers and could join the Shandumbala Boys before the start of the 2011/2012 season.
