President Ramos Horta Leaves Luanda for East Timor

29 June 2011 Luanda — The President of East Timor, José Ramos Horta, on Tuesday here thanked the MPLA party, the Angolan government and people for supporting his country's during the liberation war against Indonesia. The statesman expressed this recognition during a lecture on the liberation war and the current development process of East Timor, presented at the Law Faculty of Agostinho Neto University, as part of his four-day official visit to Angola, which started Sunday. During his intervention, Ramos Horta gave a historical account of his country's liberation war, as well as the reconciliation process with Indonesia, former colonial power.

Luanda — The President of the Democratic Republic of East Timor, José Ramos Horta, ended on Wednesday his four-day official visit to Angola, which enabled the signing of an accord on the various fields of co-operation.

Speaking to the pressa t Luanda’s 4 de Fevereiro International Airport before his departure, Ramos Horta said that he was happy about his visit to Angola, mainly the trips to the huge constructions works aimed for the reconstruction and modernisation of the country.

According to him, the Angolan state is making efforts in order to improve the key sectors for the national development, eradication of poverty, creation of jobs and construction of houses for population.

At the airport, Ramos Horta was bid farewell by the Angolan Defence Minister, Cândido Van-Dúnem, accompanied by the vice governor of Luanda, Juvelina Imperial, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Exalgina Gamboa and other officials of the Angolan government.
