Manchester City are on the verge of completing a £6.3 million transfer for Fiorentina winger Alessio Cerci.

Sky Sport Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport both report that the Premier League side are in the process of closing a deal with the Tuscan outfit for the 23-year-old Italian.

Talks have developed within the last few hours of Wednesday morning and it is said City will pay Fiorentina around £6.3m for the player after both clubs reached an agreement over the fee.

Cerci, who can play as a striker or winger, had a mixed season last term, but he burst into life towards the end of the campaign where he was a regular starter for his side.

The former Roma man signed for Fiorentina in 2010 where he penned a five-year contract.

Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic will be looking for reinforcements if Cerci completes his move to City after having also lost Adrian Mutu to Cesena from his front line.
