LAGOS – AN Ikeja High Court has remanded a medical doctor, Dr. Wilfred Fajemisin, in prison custody till July 1, when his bail application will be heard, over alleged sale of a plot of land worth N11.5 million, to three unsuspecting victims.

Dr. Fajemisin was ordered to be remanded in prison after he was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, before Justice Aishat Opesanwo, on a three-count charge of obtaining money under false pretence.

He was accused by EFCC of collecting the money from the complainants last September  in a bid to sell his plot of land located on Tunde Owoeye Street/ Otunba Ademola Oke Alo Street, Gbagada, Lagos State, to his victims.

The 57-year-old medical practitioner who was also a former Vice-Chairman of Mushin Local Government  was alleged to have collected N3 million from one Mr. Oladapo Olaleye as part payment for a parcel of land on Tunde Owoeye Street, Otunba Ademola Shobowale Way, Oke Alo Estate, Gbagada, Lagos.

When he was docked, he pleaded not guilty to the charges.

EFCC claimed in its charge that the defendant also collected N8.5 million from one Mr. and Mrs Adelaja Adekoya under the pretext of selling to them the same parcel of land, earlier sold to the Olaleyes.

The commission alleged that after paying the money, the complainants discovered that Fajemisin had earlier sold the same plot of land to one Mr Olumide Owulade, who claimed to be the owner of the property.

The complainants subsequently petitioned the Special Fraud Unit,SFU, Ikoyi, Lagos, over the matter and he was subsequently arrested before the matter was transferred to the EFCC.
