Amuru — Health workers in Amuru District have threatened to lay down their tools, over unpaid May salaries. The workers, in a meeting with the district leaders on Friday, expressed pessimism on whether the payments would be effected soon as the month of June is also coming to an end. Led by Dr Dominic Mabuusu, the in-charge Amuru Health Centre IV, thehealth workers said the delay has demoralised workers, who have resorted to absenteeism. “Such irregularities tend to demoralise workers in doing their work that is why many have opted for greener pastures.”
The District Health Officer, Dr Patrick Odong, who also shared the same plight with the workers blamed the irregularities on the Ministry of Public Service, although he did not give details. He said although April salaries were received in mid-May colleaques should be patient as they settle the issue with the Ministry.
