Lusaka — Experts in matters of co-operation, defence and security in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) are discussing issues to be submitted to the ministerial session of the regional committee of the southern Africa region, set for Tuesday in Lusaka, Zambia.
The commander of the Angolan National Police (PNA), Ambrósio de Lemos, is leading the Angolan delegation to the preparatory meeting, whose works started last Friday in Lusaka.
Angola wants to present the proposal to set March 23, as the celebrations day for the southern Africa region, to mark the Cuito Cuanavale battle, in which the Angolan troops defeated the invaders of the South African apartheid regime.
The creation of mechanisms to prevent piracy, analysis of the situation in Madagascar and Zimbabwe, the creation of the single visa, an instrument for free circulation in the region will also be discussed.
The results of this meeting will be submitted to the Summit of the Heads of State and Government, set for August this year in Angola.
