Werner Menges 15 June 2011 An incident in which a young mother suffered life-threatening knife wounds in Windhoek three months ago was an accident, the man charged with attempted murder over the event claimed in the Windhoek Magistrate's Court in Katutura yesterday. When he goes on trial on the attempted murder charge he is now facing, he will be pleading not guilty, Martin Swaniso Lupalezwi told Magistrate Elina Nandago on the first day of a hearing on an application by him to be released on bail.

Malanje — The Secretary of State for Human Rights, António Bento Bembe, is working since Monday in the northern Malanje province in order to check the prison situation of the region.

According to his work agenda released to Angop on Monday, the Secretary of State for Human Rights will visit the production centre of the Angolan Public Television (TPA) and Damba Penitentiary in Malanje province.

During his stay in Malanje, Bento Bembe will also visit the provincial delegate of the Ministry of Interior, as well as he will travel to Cangandala district.

Bento Bembe will stay in Malanje province until Friday and he will meet with chieftains, officials of the justice administration, chief judge of the local court, provincial prosecutor, justice and interior delegates, so as to analyse the human rights situation in region.
