…As Garki police kill robbery suspect

Policemen from Garki Police Division yesterday morning gunned down an armed robbery suspect after a battle at EFAB Estate, Abuja.

Residents of the estate said the robbers attacked House number 10 of the estate in the wee hours before they met their waterloo.

According to a victim, Chinedu, two persons holding guns and knives pulled down his apartment door at about 1:30am, while others stood outside making noise.

He said the robbers threatened to kill his family if they do not cooperate, adding that they took his wife’s Nokia phone, Visa phone and N25,000.

The victim’s wife, who is pregnant, was rushed to Asokoro General Hospital after the incident.

She described her ordeal as frightening. “It was a horrifying situation for me because I thought they had come to kill me but I thank God they only robbed us without shooting at anyone,” she stated.

“A neighbour alerted the police, who responded immediately and chased the robbers into a swamp, where a gun battle ensued which led to the death of one of them.

The divisional police officer of Garki declined to comment on the incident and referred our reporter to FCT Police Command, where the Spokesman, Superintendent Jimoh Moshood said he will get in touch with the reporter after reaching out to Garki police division.
