Midfielder Mubarak Wakaso says Ghana’s Under-23 are determined to eliminate perennial rivals Nigeria from the All Africa Games qualifiers.
The Black Metoers want to placate fans after missing out on the London Olympic Games in the final round eliminator against the Dream Team on 25 June.
Wakaso, who excelled with Spanish top flight side Villarreal last season, wants the team to make amends.
“It’s painful that we couldn’t qualifier for the Olympic Games. But what is important now is we are playing against Nigeria and we must take the game seriously. The team is together and we are focused. I have absolute confidence of victory,” the 21-year said.
Wakaso has returned to international football after failing to make the grades in the 2009 Ghana Under-20 team.
