Bomani ground in Likoni will be the place to be on Saturday for the older football fans in the region. Former Kenya national team players will curtain raise for the Vyakweli Mbaruk Cup final between Likoni’s Vimbwanga and Mtongwe’s Kishada.

The Wazee wa Kazi match being organised by Twaha Mbarak, a senior Kenya Football Federation vice chairman seeking the top post in the national football elections will feature a rich list of former heroes. They will play veterans from Kwale.

Twaha himself played with some of the people he has called upon to mark the event. “I played with Ricky Solomon, Mahmoud Abbas and many of these players, mostly in Mombasa clubs,” he said adding. “This will be a great time for soccer fans to see the players they only used to hear about on radio.

The former internationals will include Mahmoud Abbas, Tobias “Jua Kali” Ocholla, Wycliff Anyangu, John “Bobby” Ogolla, Josphat Murilla, Douglas Mutua, Mike Otieno, Peter Dawo, Sammy Tabu, Mohamed Nazir, Edward Kiiza, James Ojiambo, George Sunguti, George “Fundi” Onyango, Ricky Solomon, Swaleh “Oswayo” Ochieng, Tom Ouko, Eddward Khaemba, Ali Jeneby with Francis Kadenge as team manager, Mbarak “Sindimba” (doctor) and Adnan Bawazir (coach).

The Twaha election team operating under the “Mpira Kwa Wote” banner will meet over 40 clubs in Likoni to present their manifesto before the kick-off in part of his electioneering for Kenya football’s top seat. The chief guest will be Fidel Raila Odinga.
