Defence Minister Considers Kuito Kuanavale Inevitable Historical Landmark

16 June 2011 Luanda — Representatives of the country's several religious denominations Wednesday, here, appealed for the creation of mechanisms to control proliferation of churches and regulate their activity in Angola, according to the values established by the State. The proposal comes expressed in the final communiqué of the Forum on the Religious Phenomenon in Angola promoted by the Ministry of Culture on June 14-15, in the National Assembly

Menongue — Defence minister Cândido Van-Dúnem, on Wednesday considered the Kuito Kuanavale District, in south-eastern Kuando Kubango Province, as an inevitable landmark of the history of Angola, Africa and the world.

Speaking to ANGOP, in Kuito Kuanavale, the minister explained that it was in this district that a turning in history was observed, which served to definitively break off with the apartheid regime.

On the occasion, he guaranteed that the Angolan executive will pay tribute to the people of Kuando Kubango in general and Kuito Kuanavale in particular, for the brave posture and the support given to the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA).
