Mahas — Al shabaab has Thursday afternoon stoned a man to death after accusing him of committing a rape, official said.
Sharma’arke Abdullahi Mohamoud was killed in a square in Mahas district of Hiran region as hundreds of local inhabitants to watch the stoning.
An al Shabaab official said that an Islamic court of Mahas district had reached the decision after Mohammed confessed he had forcibly raped a local young girl Deqa Abdulle Nur.
He said the killed man had already married and committed rape and that is why he was stoned to death according to the Islamic religion.
Generally, alleged spies and Christians have been publicly executed. Thieves have had their legs and hands cut off. Women accused of adultery have been beaten and stoned.
