Salone Premier League Review – Fc Kallon, Kamboi Eagles Fall… As Ports Authority Increases Title Chance

Freetown — FC Kallon and Kamboi Eagles both dropped three points over the weekend as the fight for the Africell-sponsored Sierra Leone Premier League crown heightens; results that increase Ports Authority’s chances of winning the title.

FC Kallon suffered their first defeat in the league this season as they went down 2-1 to Wusum Stars of Bombali at the Wusum ground in Makeni. Mohamed Bangura opened the scoring for the home side just 15 seconds after kick-off to record the fastest goal in the league so far. However, Alhaji Kamara aka Adriano levelled matters for the visitors in the 32nd minute but Alpha Jalloh ensured victory for the home side early in the second half to move his team to third in the log with 18 points from 10 matches, and FC Kallon dropping a place down to fourth with 17 points from the same number of matches.

Also on Sunday, Kissy All Stars moved four places up in the log to 8th position after a 2-1 victory over Nepean Stars of Bo at the National Stadium in Freetown, leaving the latter still battling relegation in 13th place with just four points. Mohamed Kabia opened the scoring but Mustapha Koroma levelled the score before the break. However, Mark Kallon struck home the winner in the second half for the Stars.

Kissy All Stars are now level on 10 points with Central Parade who lost 3-1 to Bo Rangers at the Bo Coronation ground on Saturday. Bo Rangers, who are the only unbeaten side in the league, now occupy fourth place with 17 points while Parade dropped a place down to ninth.

On Saturday in Makeni, Ports Authority increased their chances of winning the league after a hard fought 1-0 win over bottom place Area Best. The Water Front Boys are now level on 20 points with Kamboi Eagles who were humbled 4-1 by champions East End Lions at the National Stadium in Freetown.
