Luanda — The Deputy minister of the Interior, Angelo Veiga Tavares, on Wednesday here defended the need to intensify the actions of fighting the illegal immigration phenomenon, which has lately been gaining alarming proportions in the country.

Speaking in the opening act of the commemorations of the 32 years of the Interior Ministry, to be marked on 22 June, the official stressed that this phenomenon brings about several tragic consequences, with direct implications in the country’s political, economic, social and cultural life.

“If in one hand we feel that the level of pressure in relation to migratory acts has been decreasing after services were digitalised, on the other hand we need to continue making adjustments so we can reach better and better our target public, to serve them properly (…)”.
