As if it was a calculated move to incapacitate the Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings (FONKAR) man, the NDC gurus, also ardent members of the Get Atta Mills Elected (GAME), jumped on him, labeling him a mole who had been planted to create cracks in the party.
Frank Osei Mensah, a former Ashanti regional chairman of the NDC, who first fired the salvo in an interview with Adakabre Frimpong, host of the show christened ‘Edwaso nsem’, said he had credible information to the effect that Mr Bempah was a plant in the NDC.
He contended that the Nana Konadu media liaison officer was a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and indeed part of the Alan Kyerematen campaign team for the NPP flagbearership slot.
The former regional chairman said he was not surprised that Mr Bempah was a dyed-in-the-wool member of the NPP because he hails from Agogo, a stronghold of the NPP in the Ashanti region, and is a family member of the late Kwadwo Baah Wiredu.
Mr Mensah, a business tycoon, used a pseudonym to lambaste the NPP on radio when the party was in power, with a view to protecting his business.
He said, ‘Some of us will not allow some people like Mr Bempah to destroy our party.’
He noted that true members of the ruling party like him would do anything possible to stop Mr Bempah from achieving his devilish intentions, stressing that Mr Bempah’s support for the former First Lady was aimed at destroying the NDC.
The former regional chairman was of the view that if Mr Bempah was a true member of the NDC, he would not have resorted to dragging NDC issues to the radio stations to the extent of making false allegations against members of the ruling party.
Allotey Jacobs, Director of Communications of the NDC in the Central region, who was in the studios, quickly jumped in and stressed that Mr Bempah was indeed a mole planted in the party by the NPP.
The NDC hatchet man, who was recently embroiled in a tango with Ama Benyiwaa Doe, the Central regional minister, over contracts, said there were indications that Mr Bempah was a mole in the NDC.
Mr Jacobs urged members of the NDC to reject the rantings of Mr Bempah, indicating that the FONKAR man’s aim was to cause confusion in the NDC so that the NPP, his dear party, could come to power.
When called onto the programme to respond to the blistering attack by the President Mills loyalists, Mr Bempah, who sounded relaxed, insisted that he was a true member of the NDC.
He noted that because he was a dyed-in-the-wool member of the ruling party, then candidate Mills consistently called him on phone to discuss strategies in relation to media work, which duties he carried out to the admiration of the then NDC flagbearer.
Mr Bempah, who once hosted the morning show on Radio Focus, a London-based Ghanaian radio station, said then candidate Mills was not the only person who consulted him on media strategies; but also Koku Anyidoho, Director of Communications at the Presidency.
According to him, both President Mills and Anyidoho called him day and night to discuss sound media strategies which ensured that the agenda which suited the NDC were set to ensure that the party came to power.
He said because of his valuable contributions, President Mills promised never to forget him when he succeeded in getting the mandate of the people to administer the affairs of the country.
Mr Bempah noted that the allegation was a calculated attempt to discourage him from helping Nana Konadu to become the flagbearer of the NDC, indicating that it was not only President Mills and Anyidoho who knew about his contributions to the success of the NDC, but Hebert Mensah as well.
He stressed that once he had decided to pursue the agenda of Nana Konadu to its logical conclusion, he would not allow himself to be distracted by allegations of this nature and would rather push hard to ensure that their battle was won at the July 8-10 congress in Sunyani.
As if hurt by the submission of Mr Bempah, Mr Anyidoho quickly called into the programme to debunk Mr Bempah’s remarks, stressing that never did President Mills nor his good self consult Mr Bempah on media strategies. Â Â Continued…Â Â Â
