Kwesi Nyantakyi Has Promised Reforms If Re-Elected Ghana FA President

Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantakyi plans sweeping reforms that will placate stakeholders when his candidature for a four-year mandate is endorsed on Friday.

The incumbent FA boss stands unopposed in the 17 June presidential election after Neil Armstrong Mortagbe and Sowah Vincent Odotei were disqualified for irregularities on their nomination forms.

The Caf Executive Committee member needs 50% plus one vote from delegates to extend his mandate.

Nyantakyi has endured one of the most difficult times in the presidency this year after both the Black Meteors and Black Queens failed to qualify for the 2012 London Olympic Games.

The national Under-17 team could not even qualify for the African Championship held in Rwanda early this year.

Ghana’s Under-20, world champions, were eliminated at the Group stage of the African Youth Championship.

But the astute football administrator is confident of reversing the trend after the election.

“We’ll come out with a blue print for football development. We want to take football to a top a different level and we want to improve upon the modest level that we’ve chalked over the past five years,” Nyantakyi told Citi FM.

“I believe with the rest of all of you we’ll be able to take Ghana to the bracket of the top leagues of nations in the world.

“The league, juvenile football, refereeing, coaching, women’s football, administration itself and even in areas that we think we’ve made some strides will still be reviewed with the view of moving forward.”

Nyantakyi must also find ways to improve the Ghana Premier League.
