Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn has lashed out at claims that striker Asamoah Gyan has been offered for sale. The Black Cats reacted swiftly to claims that the 25-year-old Ghana international’s name has been circulated to prospective purchasers

Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah feels his Granada FC have the credentials to gain promotion to the Spanish La Liga after dispatching Celta Vigo in the first round of the play-offs.

Mensah rejoined Granada FC last week and sat on the bench when they eliminated Celta Vigo on penalties.

Ahead of their first leg tie with Elche FC on Wednesday night, Mensah believes Granada have a great chance to get promoted to the top flight.

“I’m back here because the season is not yet over for Granada. We have the play-offs for promotion. We are playing with Elche today and I believe strongly we will beat them well and make the second leg a mere formality though it won’t be easy,” The centre-back told GHANAsoccernet.com

“After that I will join the national Under-23. I spoke with the coach yesterday,” He concluded.

Mensah is expected back Udinese at the end of the play-offs.
