10 June 2011 Dakar — The Ivoirian government has extended a special period of free health care to help a population reeling from months of turmoil. But in a country where cost recovery for health services has long been the policy, an abrupt change to free care is posing challenges. "If we are to provide quality care for the population, we must take a step back, study this and reorganize," said Fabrice Blé, a doctor at a community health centre in Port-Bouët in the main city Abidjan.

Luanda — The Angolan national senior males basketball team, African champions, are holding a training session on Friday focusing on physical aspects, after having a day-off on Thursday.

The Angolan basketball team are holding a training session in Luanda’s Sistec gymnasium to prepare for the African Nations Cup (Afrobasket2011), to be disputed on 17-28 August in Antananarivo, Madagascar.

The national squad started on Wednesday a training on the pitch in Luanda’s Cidadela pavilion, focusing on technical aspects like short and long distance throws.

In the first stage of the Afrobasket2011 competition Angola is in group B with the national teams of Chad, Morocco and Senegal.

The winner of the continental cup is automatically qualified for the London Olympic Games, in 2012.
