By Olasunkanmi Akoni    The Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, has called on the appropriate authorities to urgently institute a probe into the May 27th mass deaths at the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP campaign office in Kwara, as part of measures to prevent a recurrence of such tragedy. National Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, while commenting on the issue said the inquiry would unravel the causes of the tragedy, determine whether or not it could have been avoided as well as those who contributed to it. According to the party, the probe was necessary following the claim by the Kwara State government that only two people died, and argued that the fatalities exceeded 70

A move to Chelsea would be a dream for Atletico Madrid’s Uruguayan defender Diego Godin, who says he is “honoured” by the Blues’ interest in him.

The former Villarreal man – who only moved to the Spanish capital at the start of last season – claims he was the subject of a bid by the London club in January.

The centre-back starred at last summer’s World Cup as Uruguay made the semi-finals and says he would be thrilled if a move could materialise this summer.

“In January, Atletico received an offer but the transfer did not happen,” Godin is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

“They had already sold other players and did not want to weaken the team further then.”

Godin has quickly laid his cards on the table as the Madrid outfit look set to undergo a turbulent summer following the sacking of Quique Sanchez Flores and appointment of Gregorio Manzano.

David De Gea, Kun Aguero and Diego Forlan have all also been linked with moves away from Atletico in what could be a dramatic few months at the Vicente Calderon.

“For Chelsea to still be interested in having me is an honour and means I must be playing well,” added 25-year-old Godin.

“Who would not want to play there? To do so would be a step up.”

Godin has 43 international caps and would be added to a strong Chelsea central defensive roster which includes John Terry, Branislav Ivanovic, Alex and David Luiz should a move take place.
